Well since I got laid off in May my summer started right then! I obviously have been looking for a job the whole time but had decided to take this mandatory break as a needed vacation! I haven't had a summer off really since high school so it was nice to go to new places, see old and new friends and to have some adventures! Obviously I went to Moab from the prior post but I went again! We stayed inside the National Park and did three of the hikes- landscape arch, double O arch and Delicate Arch. This was way different from the bike trip that I went on before but just as challenging. I seem to like hikes but not ones that take all day.. Give me anything that's 4 miles or less and a good scenic view !
Then I went camping the week after that up Provo canyon with my ward. Being in charge of that was really hectic until we got there and it was such a beautiful place that I was calm no doubt! We had more people then I expected and Shall and I had so much fun cooking in a witches pot and floating the river. Unfortunately I lost a flip flop, my Von Zipper sunglasses and my hat to the Provo river. :( The last night and day it started raining on us so we didn't go hiking but by then I was definitely ready to go home and sleep in my bed and have a hot shower! I do enjoy camping but have realized my limit is 4 days in a row!
So that all happened in June and in July we had so many holidays that I really just stayed around and laid out a lot! I went on the most interviews this month but still nothing has come of it. I enjoyed the time I had celebrating the 4th and 24th with Shall's family but their were some fiasco's. Especially on the 4th of july: when right before dark I got picked up by some friends who said we were going to a bonfire... but no one told me that we were hiking a sheer cliff on Big cottonwood canyon because I was in flip flops and my glasses. I was terribly distraught ( a little bit of a drama queen) but I was not prepared for it. I ended up breaking my flip flops and having to hike barefoot... which eventually led me to stop and stay where I was.. thus I didn't see any fireworks and had a cranky night. From then on... I took a little trip to Boise to see on of my best friends, Brian. Which has only led me to believe that Boise is in the middle of nowhere and absolutely awful. I really didn't like this little town and especially not the right place for Brian. I'm still talking him into moving back to Cali but I think i'm pretty close. We did do a few good things there- shoot the tube ( floating in a ravine that goes underneath 5 blocks of street), float the Boise river, see the Boise temple, and enjoy some quality time with him. Its not too bad of a drive though...
The month of August has been fun as well... I got to go home for a week, and while I was there so was Bre so the whole family was together! We went the week of my brothers 23rd birthday and so the family went out to dinner which wasw great but my brother also made it such a big deal that we got comped on our ticket... like father, like son. Thats all I got to say! We also had a fabulous beach day- the place i miss the most besides my parents house. It was sunny and warm and sandy and everything I had missed! We decided the sat before I left that we were throwing a summertime party which included friends and family and events such as volleyball, swimming, basketball, angel's game and grilling food! We have so much fun when we have people over but sometimes its too many people and I feel like we don't get to see and talk with everyone.. but i had a fun time so i'm ok with it! After that I drove back to utah on a new route- I drove highway 395 through Cali and stopped in Tahoe and Reno. They are pretty close to each other , within an hour, so i was able to see my friend Chris and Alison. I got to finally go to Lake Tahoe and swim and layout and have girl time with Alison and some of her friends. I really had so many great experiences and made lots of new friends! I went to the Little Nugget and took on the Awful Awful challange... ate the hamburger but not the fires... oh well. We also went up to 'bumrappers point,' i'm pretty sure it speaks for itself. Great views though!
Obviously summer is still going on a little bit longer but as September has begun I have decided to embrace fall as a wonderful season and am looking forward to so many activities, adventures and beauty. I have learned to encourage myself on change and live in the day and situation. I will continue to update you, on a quicker update then lately, and enjoy the simple pleasures. Hopefully soon I can update you regarding a job too! I have had a great couple of months and have enjoyed my break and the governments money very much! Hopefully I get to spend time with friends and family and i'm always up for little visits!
