Here is Savannah's birth story...
I went in for my normal weekly appt on March 4th hoping that I would be dilated and effaced a bit but after being checked i really wasn't progressing at all. During my exam my doc notice my pelvis is a bit smaller than expected and she wasn't sure if i would be able to push a baby through. She said it wasn't something we would know until i was in the throws of labor pushing and then she would have to determine that. That sounded awful to me so we talked about the possibility of a c-section and when she would do that, especially cause i wasn't even dilated to a 1 and my due date was 3 days away.
I wasn't feeling the best that day anyways so the doc sent me down to labor and delivery for a few tests- EKG and blood work to make sure neither of us were in distress. Once down there it took 3 nurses and 4 pokes to get an IV into me because i was a bit dehydrated as well. Since it took so long to get an IV in me when the doc came down she didn't really want me to go through that in another couple days again for the planned c section. She surprised both Kris and I when she said she was on call that night and if i wanted to have the baby that night she would do it. I immediately jumped on it!! I was so ready to not be pregnant anymore! Kris got a bit nervous because it happened so fast!
We got admitted right then and we had to wait a few more hours to have the c section since i needed an empty stomach for surgery. So the c-section was planned for 9pm. About 20 minutes to 9pm the nurse took me into the OR to get a spinal tap- which was the craziest feeling ever! I immediately couldn't feel anything from my shoulders to my toes! Thank goodness too... I didn't want to feel anything! I won't go into the details of the c-section but Kris was with me and he distracted me well. He also got to hold our little girl for about 20 minutes while i was being sewn up. He did great with her and she was the cutest baby girl ever!!
We stayed in the hospital for 4 days and were itching to get home by then. It was great to have nurses to help out and the nursery to put Savvy in at night when we desperately needed some sleep- if only for a few hours. It was nice to go home and start a routine and be more comfortable in clothes and not a gown.
She had a few days of very hard sleeping schedules but I'm thinking we are getting the hang of it. She sleeps in 5-6 hour increments and is only up once a night. I am still adjusting to the sleep changes cause I'm used to 12 hours of sleep a night.
Here are the details of her birth:
